It's time to renew! Joining Intersections as a member helps support the sustainability of our non-profit organization. Upcoming Workshops

A couple notable updates on February workshops.

Due to popular demand, we have added another Introduction to Power Tools with Jennifer Hart next Sunday, February 2. Also, thanks to Carl who has procured an additional lathe for Introduction to Pen Turning, we are able to open up an additional spot in that previously sold out course.

For those waiting on Chainsaw Safety, it remains TBD on the schedule due to the accumulated snowfall, most likely it will run in April. Thanks for your patience!

Also on the near horizon, Nick Davies and Hugh Hunter return to lead Introduction to the CNC Router over three weeknight evenings in February. Pierre Rousseau will offer a new workshop, two days on Sharpening Saws, Chisels and Planes. Jennifer Hart returns to teach you how to build your own Free Little Library. In early March, Nick Davies will lead the popular Introduction to Pyrography and Pierre Rousseau will delve into the art of the Dovetail. Take a look on our website for all our upcoming workshops.

Mark Sfirri Presents 'Intersections: Stephen Hogbin and Mark Sfirri' on March 18

This virtual presentation by wood sculptor Mark Sfirri is a reflection about the work by Stephen Hogbin and how it impacted contemporary furniture and woodturning as well as how it impacted his own studio work.

Mark Sfirri wrote Hogbin Reflecting for Woodwork magazine in 2008. Stephen Hogbin was a recipient of the prestigious American Association Professional Outreach Program's Merit Award in 2007, the inaugural year of the award. Sfirri was the 2024 recipient of the award. In 2013, The Museum for Art in Wood (MAW then called the Center for Art in Wood) conducted an event titled Stephen Hogbin and Mark Sfirri: Mano a Mano, where they discussed their creative work. As part of Sfirri's 2024-2025 La Famiglia solo exhibition at MAW in Philadelphia, he curated a companion show there titled Inspirations, Influences, and Collaborations which featured six of Stephen's Hogbin's works.

This virtual presentation will be broadcast live on March 18, 2025 from 7 - 8 pm. Registered participants will be sent a viewing link prior to the presentation to the email address used to register. A community viewing will also be held at Intersections Wood Collaborative at 299 10th St E, Owen Sound.

Tickets are free for members and $10 for non-members. Members should 'purchase' a free ticket in order to receive the presentation link.

Volunteering at Intersections

Volunteers are how we run at Intersections, so join us. We are currently looking for a volunteer with a curatorial eye to update our window displays, and also for someone who can put up posters in bulletin boards in and around time. Open Hours

Open Hours are back to our regular Tuesday - Thursday 10 am - 3 pm. Friday shop time is also be available by appointment. Please email ahead of time if you are planning to come in to work in the shop.
