Volunteering at Intersections

Intersections is fueled by volunteers! Looking for a new way to channel your enthusiasm for woodcraft, meet new people or build up a small community non-profit? Consider joining the dozens of people that keep Intersections thriving! Here are some of the roles volunteers take on. Email us at info@intersectionsos.org for more information or to get connected!

Community Project Volunteers:

Working under the direction of a project lead and as part of a team complete projects that are revenue generating for IWC.  Examples of past projects: building a nymph canoe, bonsai boxes, bat boxes and community benches.

 Open Hours Volunteers:

Join our team of volunteers who host Open Hours on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10 to 3pm.  Work in the shop or sit in the common area.  Talk with people when they come in about IWC and opportunities available such as workshops and volunteering.

Safety session Volunteers:

When a new member identifies they want to work in the workshop meet with them to review the use of tools and ensure that safety precautions will be followed (woodworking shop expertise required)

Member Support Volunteer:

Connect with members to encourage engagement and answer questions.

Workshop Greeter:

Be present at the start of workshops, unlock the building, welcome students and instructors, ensure waivers are signed. Check in about workshop clean up and ensure building locked at end of day.

Volunteer Coordinator:

Respond to people interested in volunteering.  Help to match volunteers with their preferred area of interest.  Make sure every volunteer is matched with a mentor.

Workshop Cleaner:

Support the building maintenance lead by cleaning workshop and common space areas as needed.

Special Event Planners:

Working as part of a committee help to plan and/or execute specials events such as fundraisers, appreciation events, anniversary events throughout the year.
