Join us at Intersections Wood Collaborative on Friday, February 27 for a special presentation from renowned Ontario woodworker and educator, Vic Tesolin. Vic will speak on “Working on a Modern Workbench” about designing workbenches with modern workholding accessories for all tasks and tools, both hand and powered.

Vic Tesolin began his career in woodworking after serving 14 years in the Royal Canadian Horse Artillery. After an honourable discharge, he went on to study furniture design and making at Rosewood Studio under the guidance of some of North America’s top furniture makers. Following his studies, Vic started a small business designing and making furniture by commission while working at Rosewood as a part-time instructor and craftsman in residence.

Over the years, Vic has had the pleasure of holding various woodworking-related positions, including Editor at Canadian Woodworking & Home Improvement Magazine and Woodworking Advisor at Lee Valley Tools. With Lee Valley/Veritas, he helped to develop tools and traveled around the globe to teach and present at various conferences, shows, and woodworking events.

Being self-employed is now Vic’s full-time gig! He co-owns and runs Vic Tesolin Woodworks, a small business focused on woodworking education for all. VTW offers both online and in-person private instruction, from beginner basics to more advanced skills. When he’s not teaching, you’ll find Vic combining his passions of woodworking and education into various forms of communication. Blogging for Fine Woodworking Magazine, co-hosting the FWW Shop Talk Live podcast, creating social media woodworking content, and writing articles for magazines including Fine Woodworking. Canadian Woodworking & Home Improvement, and Australian Wood Review.

After hearing stories of people thinking they cannot woodwork because they do not have a big workshop with all the fancy equipment, Vic authored two books: The Minimalist Woodworker and Projects from the Minimalist Woodworker. These books highlight how anyone can woodwork with minimal space and some essential tools.
