Intersections is pleased to be able to invite you to the woodlot of Paul and Patty Kruis in Chatsworth for the next event in our "Tree to Table" series. This session is a morning walk in the woods on Saturday September 27 from 9 to 12 AM. Retired forester Joe Watson will speak to silviculture principles, forest management and various aspects of tree species, their growth patterns and the stewardship of a woodlot/forest.
There is a $20 fee for this Tree Talk/Forest Walk event. Transportation to the Chatsworth site is on your own. Otherwise, carpooling from the Intersections workshop location can be arranged leaving for Chatsworth at 8:30 AM. After the walk you may stay and eat a lunch that you have prepared and brought along but this isn't a formal part of the program so you may leave when we finish directly at noon if you prefer. The rain date is Sunday September 28. Location/directions will be provided by email to those who register. There is no pre-requisite that you participated in previous events in the series or that you may intend to join in any subsequent activities - of course we especially welcome previous participants and members!
The woodlot was host to spring tree-felling/chain saw safety sessions at which ash trees affected by the ash borer were cut down. Subsequently volunteers helped out at several days of milling the ash logs into lumber with a portable sawmill at the site. The boards have been loaded into a passive, self-built solar kiln and are being dried in preparation for the building of a couple of tables at Intersections later this fall/winter.
This a half day guided walk in a local woodlot. The walk will begin at 9 am and end at noon. Location details will be sent after registration.
Everyone welcome!
