Through this comprehensive hands‐on workshop, learn to make functional rolling pins, both standard form with turning handles and French‐style tapered, and including decorative embellishments, such as incorporating a Celtic Knots design. Topics will include safety considerations, wood selection, design considerations, some simple math, optional drilling, tool selection, sharpening, mounting
options, turning techniques, and finishing. Each participant will have the opportunity to turn a standard‐form rolling pin and a French‐style tapered rolling pin during the workshop. As time permits, various alternative designs, from functional to decorative, may be demonstrated and/or discussed in addition to
the hands‐on class projects.
This is a two day workshop. Each day will begin at 9:00 am and end at around 4:00 pm. The workshop will be held at Intersections Wood Collaborative at 299 10th Street E., Owen Sound.
Basic woodworking skills would be beneficial, no turning experience necessary.
Materials fee of $30.00 payable to instructor at start of class.
