Through this comprehensive hands-on workshop, learn how to incorporate staved construction in woodturned projects. Topics will include safety considerations, wood selection, grain orientation, design considerations, linear versus compound stave, some simple math, some less-simple math, cutting staves, stave blank glue-ups, tool selection, sharpening, mounting options, turning techniques, and finishing. Each participant will have the opportunity to turn a stave constructed vessel during the workshop, plus construct an additional stave constructed blank. As time permits, various alternative designs, from functional to decorative, may be demonstrated and/or discussed in addition to the hands-on class projects.

This is a two day workshop. Each day will begin at 9:00 am and end at around 4:00 pm. The workshop will be held at Intersections Wood Collaborative at 299 10th Street E., Owen Sound.

Suitable for intermediate woodturners

Materials fee of $30.00 payable to instructor at start of class.
